Gr. 4-8 Mental Health Symposium – Oct. 26th

Thank you, to all the participants in our 2nd SJP II Mental Health Symposium which was held on October 26th, 2017. The morning began with Dr. Bucci and Ms. Rodrigues’ presentation for the Grades 4-8 classes, about the importance of mental well-being and it’s connection to the young brain.  The students had an opportunity to participate in various break-out sessions.

Many hands helped to make the morning a success.  We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Somosi, a Metis educational presenter, who inspired us with his gift of how drumming can be calming to the mind/body connection.  We also extend our thanks to Ms. August (Physical Education Consultant), Ms, Kibel and Ms.Saunders (YCDSB Occupational Therapists),  Ms. Wilson (YCDSB Psychological Associate), Ms. Sorrento ( SJPII Music teacher) and Ms. Turko (SJP II Teacher Librarian). Finally, to Steven G, Erica G, and Margaret A. who demonstrated student leadership.  Our parent volunteers also helped in the smooth transitions of the break-out sessions. It was an informative, interactive morning for our school community.
