World Down Syndrome Day March 21

Dear St John Paul II Families,

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate people with Down Syndrome around the globe. In 2012, the United Nations declared March 21st, the 21st day of the 3rd month of the year, as WDSD.  This signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. This day was also declared Ontario Down Syndrome Day by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2016.                                                                                                                                                    On Monday March 21 we invite all students at SJPII to wear mismatched socks in support of WDSD.
